Black Hawk Down 1993 viewer DISCRETION
Years of warfare among rival clans cause famine on a biblical scale. 300,000 civilians die of starvation. Mohamed Farrah Aidid, the most powerful of the warlords, rules Mogadishu. He captures international food shipments at the port. Hunger is his weapon. The world responds, behind a force of 20,000 Marines, food is delivered and order is restored. April 1993, Aidid waits until U.S. troops withdraw, and declares war on remaining U.N. peacekeepers. In June, Aidid's militia ambush and slaughter 24 Pakistani soldiers, and begin targeting American personnel. In late August, America's elite soliders, Delta Force, Army Rangers and the 160th SOAR are sent to remove Aidid and restore order.
Thus began the mission that was scheduled to take 30 minutes but took a day, it is known to be the largest battle since Vietnam and a huge mistake on America's part. America's elites are sent to capture 3 HVTs of Aidid's, but do to the lack of proper equipment we lost 2 American Black Hawks. But even worse we lost 18 soldiers, and had 73 wounded, one man Mike Durant was captured but later retrieved and brought home safely. Many people remember this incident when they turned on there TV's and saw our soldiers bodies being dragged through the streets, it is also a big part of why our involvement in Africa, in the later years were not as active.
